In a few sentences, tell us about your recent accomplishment or achievement.

I recently got hired by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine as a Full Time Donor Referral Responder (DRR). I will be working with their Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency (LAORA) which is within their department of surgery.

In a few sentences, describe your journey towards this accomplishment or achievement.

I started wondering about other jobs related to the medical field after having worked at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for two years. Working there one day, I met another DRR that was working a case on my department. We talked a lot about her job and UM as a place to work for. I kept her contact information and she contacted me months after saying some DRR positions were opening. She encouraged me to apply and after a successful interview, I got this position.

In a few sentences, describe what this accomplishment or achievement means to you.

I am really grateful for the opportunity and I’m excited to learn more about the medical field and the organ donation process. This new challenge means a lot to me as it will help me develop further skills. In addition, I’m happy that I will be able to help individuals in need of an organ donor because many people die daily on a transplant waiting list.
